Mrs. Jane Gilkey, age 85, who has been ill for some time at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Hulet, died early Monday morning. The aged woman was not expected to live, and death was expected at any time. The deceased has been a life resident of this county, living within 10 miles of Crawfordsville all of her life. Mrs. Gilkey was born near Yountsville in 1831 and for many years lived there. She was married in 1849 to Robert Gilkey. Three children were born to this couple. After the death of her husband, several years ago, she made her home with her brother, Henry Thompson of Yountsville. During the last few years however, she has made her home with her daughter in this city. The woman is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Hulet, a brother, Henry Thompson and a sister, Mrs. Ann Harlow of Waynetown. Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. Hulet, Wednesday morning at 10 and will be in charge of the Rev. CB Stanforth. Burial will be made at Oak Hill. - transcribed by kbz
